A small ritual.
A little care.
The most thoughtful fragrance experience starts with attention to the space, the holder and the people around you.

Before you light
Choose a stable, heat-resistant holder on a non-flammable surface. Check that the stick is secure and that falling ash will be contained. Keep it well away from curtains, papers and other flammable materials.
Use only in a well-ventilated space when outdoor air conditions permit. Keep away from children and pets. Consider anyone nearby who is sensitive to smoke or fragrance. Not burning incense is the right choice when it would make someone uncomfortable.
Light, then let it smoulder
Light the tip, allow it to catch, then gently extinguish the flame so the stick smoulders. Keep your face away from the smoke. Follow the current pack instructions and start with a small amount rather than burning several sticks together.
Stay present
Never leave burning dhoop unattended. Do not use it while sleeping or leave it burning when you go out. Keep the holder on its heat-resistant surface and do not move it while hot.
End the ritual completely
Extinguish the burning tip fully in a suitable non-flammable medium such as sand. Check that no ember remains and let the holder and ash cool before handling. Keep the remaining sticks dry and store them away from children and pets.
Make room for
other people's preferences.
In a shop, office or hospitality venue, always check local fire rules and fragrance policies. Never cover a smoke detector. A scent should be an invitation, not an imposition.
